Being Jomblo: Nonton

Mulai sekarang mpe beberapa minggu ke depan, Oma akan start a posting cycle titled Being Jomblo. Hehehe,.. sampek ntar dipertemukan lagi dengan Bang Tepy.

So, being jomblo, tadi malam Oma nonton DVD Sex & The City (finally).

For some people, mungkin Oma terlihat ketinggalan jaman buanget, karena baru nonton film yang dulunya adalah serial TV ternama, ya kira-kira jaman 3-4 tahun lalu deh!

But believe it or not, as the rumor goes, Sex and the City ini tidak diperbolehkan muncul di bioskop-bioskop di kota Surabaya (why??? Kenapa di Jakarta boleh??). Maka dari itu Oma harus mencari-cari DVD supaya juga berkesempatan menonton film ini. But, after watching the film, heheheh…. No wonder ga bole diputer di Surabaya. Heheheh :P

Comment pertama, very girly (or womanly). Pokoknya it is a big-NO-film-to-watch-with-your-hubby-or-boyfriend. Jadi jangan coba-coba ajak pacar untuk nonton ini, karena he won’t get it! Untunglah Bang Tepy uda ga ada, jadi bisa nonton ini sendirian :) And, I suggest you not to bring you little sister or any teenagers to watch this. NO NO NO!

Comment kedua, baju dan SEPATUnya buaguuuuuuuuuussss. Ya ampun, I envied Carried. Bener-bener keren-keren!! Do I have to be a book writer to have those kinda clothes? Heheheh,... I love every dress of hers. Terutama yang waktu pertama kali dia muncul and her wedding dresses.

Ketiga, yang ini lebih untuk insan perfilman, khususnya di Indonesia. Do not try to make a film out of TV series – unless you are 100% sure that you will make an excellent one! Jadi, jangan pernah berpikir untuk membuat versi layar lebar dari sinetron seperti Cinta Fitri, Cinta Bunga, Upik Abu & Laura, en so on. No,.. no,… no…..

Sex and the City wasn’t that bad, tapi emang bedaaaaa banget ama kalo nonton TV seri-nya. Some things are missing, like the emotion, the tension, pokoknya kurang seru deh kalo di film. The story is okay, yet again, it is kinda cliché. Carrie with Mr Big, Samantha and her addiction to sex, Miranda and her family (this time a tension with Steve), and Charlotte too with her family. Tapi it's still cute and touching.

Yet, Oma belajar satu hal dari film ini. Forgiveness. Oma akan share di next posting ya :D

What would you do if you could live another life

What would you do if you could live another life just for one day? This line is quoted from "Last Chance Harvey" . I have watched this film twice and still feel so touched everytime I watch it. Kate Walker, the main character in this film, uttered this question to Harvey Shine. In this story, both of them lived a life that is not very happy-chappy. Kate lived in a pathetic, boring life; Harvey in a screwed one. When Kate asked this question, both of them seem to ponder: what if I could live a different life, just for one day, just to try out. This question makes me ponder, too: what would I do if I was given a chance to live any kind of life I want, just for one day? Where would I be? What would I do? Who would I be? Lately I have been thinking about the life I am living right now. Everything is so well-planned. I graduated from high school, went abroad to study, came back home to work, went abroad again to do my master, working in a reasonably good organisation, and going ho...

The unexpected wedding

Almost every girl has ever dreamt of her wedding day – what she would wear, who would come, who the prince charming is. I would say, every girl must have a certain expectation and standard when it comes to a wedding: it could be grand, small celebration, family only, destination wedding – you name it. My dream wedding happens to me a small, close friends and family only wedding. If you grew up in the 90s, you would know a boy band called 98 degree. They had a song titled ‘I do’. If you search on YouTube, you will find the video clip, which shows a beautiful wedding ceremony. That’s my dream wedding! My whole life, I was picturing that. Twelve years ago, I started dating this guy, who is now my husband. His family background is very different than mine. Among other things – which we thankfully have tolerated and worked on – the way to throw a wedding party is totally different. His dream wedding party is ‘tell the world I am getting married’-kind of party. Yes, he wanted grand...

The Bright Side

Always look at the bright side of life - Monty Phyton This song has been sung during the Olympics closing ceremony last year; and this has been my cheer up song ever since. Thus, referring to my earlier blog about how I was not happy with the way we got married, well, I tried to look back and to see the bright side of that circumstance. So if I could share a few things, which might be helpful to you, who are in the middle of preparing a wedding, here they are: 1. Wedding dress I was really happy with my wedding dress. I love the designer, Fifi Firianty , which was very helpful and very professional, and of course her work is stunning. From the first time I met her, I knew there was a click. So, if you look for a designer, who has a European style, please do consider her.  But just some tips, make sure you ask to have you dress fitted one day before the wedding. I had it measure 3 days before the wedding, but in the last 3 days, I ate almost nothing. So this dress...
